It was orange and had lines

As I watching the news, Billy came running out of his room.  Mommy, there’s something in my room.  He ran to our room and jumped in our bed.  Baden and I looked in his room and didn’t see anything.  Billy was really freaked out.  He was so freaked out that he started freaking me out which made him start to cry.  I asked him what he saw. He said it was orange and had lines.  He said it wasn’t an alligator or an elephant.  I was happy to hear that.  I sent Bill to look in his room and he didn’t see anything, but Billy insisted there was something there.  As he calmed down and we determined that there probably wasn’t anything in his room, I went in to get pajamas. As I was picking up toys, I spied it.  It was definitely orange and it had lines.  It wasn’t an alligator or an elephant or even a donkey like Billy said. It was a ……

While Bill is away…

The boys and I headed east to Oklahoma last week to visit my mom and dad.  It’s so nice to be able to hop in the car and go visit.  We spent a week with them just hanging out.  Mom and I got a pedicure which has kind of become a tradition for us during our summer visits.  Grandpa taught Billy how to play Bakugan.  Mom and I took the boys bowling. They had a great time.  Billy got a strike and proclaimed I am the best bowler in all of Oklahoma!  He beat me in the second game 114 to 107.  Maybe Wii bowling is paying off.  🙂  We got to eat Bebe’s famous pancakes.  Billy asked me how many pieces he needed to eat and I said 6 because that’s how old you are.  As he was fiddling around and not eating, Grandpa said you better eat your six pieces.  Billy said well you have to eat 100 pieces because that’s how old you are.  Everyone including Dad got a good laugh out of that one.  It was a good week.  I didn’t get to take the camera. Bill took it to scout camp.  I am pleased to say he survived his 17th scout summer camp.

“I’m in First Grade Now!”

Today was Billy’s graduation from Kindergarten.  What a milestone.  I remember all those months ago in August when I cried when he got on the bus on the first day of school.  Now he is on his way to first grade.  The ceremony was nice with the kids singing songs and then as they crossed the stage they said their name and got a diploma.  It was a great day and I am so thankful I was able to be there along with Bebe (my mom) and Baden.

Have to remember these

I was thinking lately that I haven’t really had any Billy Quotes to post. It’s not that he doesn’t say something almost every day, it’s just sometimes they just don’t stand out.  Well this week he’s been on a roll.

After finding him sitting on a bean bag chair with Baden underneath and asking him why he did that (Don’t worry Baden could breathe):

“I just couldn’t control myself.”

He once had a big Spider Man action figure, but he decided to try to color it black.  It was ruined and thrown away.  Today he told me:

“I am really sorry I colored my big Spider Man black. I just wanted to be an artist like Squidward.”

Then upon hearing that I might be going into the hospital, he said:

“Does that mean that Daddy will be our parent?”

“This is the best birthday ever!”

Six years ago, Bill and I got up really early and headed to the hospital to have our first child.  It was an exciting and a little bit scary, but the end result is great.  Billy turned six today.  We are so blessed to have him in our family.  He is stubborn, but he gives the best hugs and is a good hearted kid.  We had a family party this year with an Ironman cake and Bebe and Grandpa stayed to help celebrate.  Baden didn’t quite understand why Billy was getting to open presents and and he wasn’t, but Billy let him help open a few.  Billy’s favorite present is his “big” Ironman. It talks.  Pretty cool.  He loved all of his presents and told me this is the best birthday ever.  He also got to celebrate at school. I brought cupcakes in and his classmates sang happy birthday to him.  He was blushing, but loved every minute.

DQ & monkeys

While sitting in Sacrament meeting Billy informed me he wanted Dairy Queen for lunch. I told him no, it’s Sunday.  He said, no, I want lunch not a sundae.

One of our favorite places in the zoo is the chimpanzee area.  They were especially active on Halloween because they had been given paper mache balls with popcorn inside.  We also got to see some unflattering sides, too.  One of them pressed their rear end on the window. I made the comment to Billy that maybe the chimp needed some Anti Monkey Butt powder.  Billy looked very serious and said no, that’s only for daddy.  anti monkey

And just for good measure, Billy asked me to hand him his Book of Norman yesterday during Sacrament meeting.

I just love Billy Quotes!

New job?

Bill recently got a motorcycle so he got a really bright jacket so everyone will see him.  While trying it on, Billy asked Bill if he was going to work at the base anymore.  Bill said why and Billy said because you are a construction worker now.

Compliment?

On Friday, Billy made a witch mask at school.  He was wearing it around on the house singing, “I am a witch, I am witch.”  Then he said, “Mommy, you try it on.”  I did and he said, “Wow, Mommy, you look like a real witch.”  Gee, thanks.

Billy’s decision

IMG_1429When Billy started school, we decided that he should eat school lunch. He is a picky eater and we hoped that by eating lunch at school he would try new things.  He was excited about eating lunch at school and did so for the first month and half.  He did really well with eating different things and even learned that he liked things that he thought he didn’t.  Last week, he begged to bring his lunch to school.  So we picked a day that we knew he wouldn’t eat the main course at school and would get pb&j.  Well he’s been taking his lunch for a week now.  I think it’s the novelty of the lunch box.  I asked him who brought their lunch to school and of course he named his best friend.  Bill told him that he was going to start eating school lunch again and of course there were protests.  I asked him why he wanted to bring his lunch in the first place and he said that one day he had to get chocolate milk instead of white because they ran out.  This apparently put him over the edge.  He said I don’t like chocolate milk so I decided right then and there, I was bringing my lunch!  Well, my boy, I hope they have enough white milk to go around tomorrow because it’s back to the lunch line.

Conversations with the boys

Baden is becoming more and more vocal.  He has always said mama and dada, but he also copies whatever Billy says.  His favorite word right now is McDonald’s. If we drive past Walmart which has a McDonald’s inside then he will say McDonald’s.  It doesn’t matter if there are golden arches or not.  His favorite character is Melmo (Elmo).  We went to breakfast with my parents before they went home and Baden wanted some jelly on his french toast. He dropped some of it on the table and out came, “Oh, crap.”  I blame this one on Bill. 🙂 He likes to hide and when calling his name, he won’t come out. He smiles really big when we find him especially since he was in the room the whole time.  It’s fun watching him learn something new every day.

Billy and I have some interesting conversations in the morning especially when waiting for the bus to arrive.  This morning while getting his socks on, he told me that feet don’t care which sock you put on.  It doesn’t matter to them.  I had never thought about this before.  Then he sneezed and got some flim on his hand.  I know, gross, but he said it was because of the cake he ate at school yesterday with lunch.  Ok.  I never thought I would hear him say “pizza again” when asked what is for lunch tomorrow.  He has elaborate plans on how he wants me to follow the buses of his friends so he can see where they live.  I think that is called stalking.  It has gotten chilly here in the East Mountains so no more shorts.  But for two days straight Billy insisted he was going to wear shorts. The first day I told him no and he went ahead and put jeans on.  Then the next day, he did it again.  I told him sorry, but he told me that he had to wear shorts because he had gym and you can’t skip in pants.   I have also learned what you can do when you are eight.  When you are eight you can get a job, be a Cub Scout, get your own food and drinks, not sit in a booster chair in the car, be baptized and be a big kid.

I think I need to keep a notebook close by so I can write down everything they say or do.  I guess a good blogger does that anyway. 🙂
